The main accused in the murder of Paritala Ravi, Suri was allegedly killed by his aide in Hyderabad’s upmarket Srinagar Colony
The infamous blood feuds of Anantpur district came a full circle after Maddilacheruvu Suryanarayana alias Suri, the main accused in the murder of legislator Paritala Ravindra (Ravi), reportedly died after an attack on Monday at the busy Ganesh Complex in the city’s upmarket Srinagar Colony.

Suri, who was fired at while getting down from his car at around 3.30 pm, was taken to the Apollo Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. A CT scan revealed a bullet lodged in his head. The attack was carried out while he was returning from his advocate’s office in Sanatnagar.

He died at the hospital around 7.30 pm after being ona ventilator for about two hours.

City police commissioner AK Khan, who rushed to the hospital, said, “The driver is the only witness to this attack. The driver claimed that the person who was sitting beside Suri in the car fired at him while he was still inside. The driver brought Suri to the hospital.”

Suri was bleeding heavily when he was brought to the hospital and slipped into a comma immediately. The front seat of his car was covered with blood. Sources at the hospital said his brain did not respond to the treatment. “His condition was hopeless,” the source said, adding that he was put on ventilator in the ICU.

But, according to police, there are various versions of the attack. While one claimed that he was shot at while he was walking, another said that his vehicle was waylaid by miscreants who came in a car and fled the scene after the attack.
A large number of Suri followers rushed to the hospital after the attack, and the police deployed a large number of personnel to control the situation. Tension prevailed in Anantpur district also with Suri followers staging violent protests.
Suspect is Ravi’s follower According to sources in the intelligence department, Paritala Ravi’s follower Chaman could have been behind the attack. Chaman, a wanted criminal in several cases in Anantapur district, has been living in Belgaum for many years.

Suri pardoned Maddilacheruvu Suri was released on Independence Day following a state pardon in the sensational 1997 November 19 car bomb blast at Jubilee Hills that targeted Paritala Ravindra. As many as 23 people, including five from a television channel, were killed in the blast outside Rama Naidu Studio.

In the subsequent Paritala Ravi murder case of 2005, Suri had received bail and was staying in Bengaluru for the most part. Reports said he was planning to join YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s to-be-launched party.
The killing of Suri shows that blood feuds are back in the region. Only a few months ago, Suri’s staunch opponent Pothula Suresh was arrested and brought to Cherlapalli jail. Suresh, who feared for his life during the YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime, had gone underground after Paritala Ravi was killed.

RGV’s movieThe feud also received a much-publicised celluloid treatment from director Ramgopal Verma in his two-part Rakta Charitra, wherein Suri was depicted as one who bore a grudge against Paritala Ravindra for killing his entire family in a bomb blast in 1990s.
