Applications for IPU will cost Rs21 in Karnataka

This year, the department had fixed Rs21 for the application forms. According to the admission rules, the colleges should sell applications from 9 am to 4 pm, and the prospectus should be given free of cost.
Till 2010, the amount fixed by the department for the application forms was Rs15.
“Every year, we receive complaints from parents and students about the hefty charges the colleges charge for application forms and prospectus. This year, if they violate admission rules, we will take severe action,” said a senior official of the department.
According to the calendar of events, applications for the first PU should be distributed from May 5 and till after the fifth day of the announcement of SSLC results. The colleges should start receiving the filled applications three days after the announcement of SSLC results.
“If a college is collecting excess fee for application forms or selling its prospectus, students and parents can complain to the department, attaching a receipt received from the college,” the official said.
After receiving the filled applications, colleges must put three lists of selected students. “After that, they need to submit the list of students admitted to the deputy director of the district. This year, the maximum intake per section is 80, the minimum 40. If any college admits more students, we will disaffiliate it,” said the official.
Details of the cut-off percentage for admission and the fee structure for the course should be displayed on the notice board of the college, and on its website.Classes for first PU will commence on June 6.
